Challenges to e-learning

There is currently inadequate computer knowledge and skills among second year crop science students. There is need, therefore, to have course on teaching computer skills to the students. Adequate computer hardware and software should be procured to enable students utilize the developed e-learning materials.

Commitment to developing e-learning materials

Devote time to developing e-learning training course on Fundamentals of Crop Production. Awareness will be created among the students on the development of the training course. This will be followed by promotion of the material among the students The Department will ensure that students visit the site for its content and updates.

RESEARCH IN DEPARTMENT OF CROP SCIENCE

There is a vibrant research programme in the Department of Crop Science of the School of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Zambia. Research is carried out in the following areas: Biofuels, Crop Protection, Crop Improvement, Crop/Livestock Interactions, Biotechnology, Post Harvest, Crop Modeling, Climate Change, Organic Agriculture, Plant Genetic Resources and Conservation Agriculture.

I would like to be instrumental in setting up a Blog in research in Agriculture firstly at the Departmental level (Department of Agriculture) and then at School level. Articles are available from completed staff and student research. The student research is both at undergraduate and graduate levels.
